Variability of vortices.
All these simulations have been run with the same parameters. The variability in the patterns reflect stochastic differences in both the initial configuration, and the dynamics. Plus-ended (green) and minus-ended (blue) motors share here the same characterisics (apart from their directionality). Since our simulation is symmetric with respect to plus/minus ends, all simulations shown below are directly comparable. Most figures are easily identifiable as vortices, with a high variability in their exact appearance. The simulation occasionally produce an aster (top, right).
