Internal Controls
Some parameters of the simulation should not affect the calculation, most notably the time step. Here we have varied systematically the time step, the microtubule secioning length and the size of the simulated box. All results are similar, confirming that our choice of dt, R and size gives appropriate numerical precision to our problem. This is simply because the noise due to thermal fluctuation in the system is stronger than the errors due to our numerical integration.
- Time step: dt = 5 or 10 milli-seconds
- Microtubule sectioning length: R = 0.5 or 1 micro-meter
- Size of simulation box: size = 60 or 120 micro-meters
